Kayla Breelove Carter
​Clinical Traumatologist | Clinical Supervisor

Trauma has a way of showing up in an intrusive way, it shows up with no real reference point for, it brings up discomfort and leaves us with this sufferance and pain. Taking the first step can be hard, while finding new meaning and growth is possible, it takes courage and vulnerability. We're here to walk alongside you, on your journey back to your authentic self.

Kayla is a clinical traumatologist who uses an integrative historical trauma focused approach to healing, including somatic and empowerment therapies, to guide healing and recovery of trauma and symptoms of adversities.

Kayla is a clinical supervisor and licensed with the Colleges of Counselling Therapy in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Kayla holds  CCC designation as a Canadian Certified Counsellor, they are on the board of MAPS Canada, and a monthly mental health columnist, for CBC Moncton and PEI. While practicing as a clinical traumatologist, Kayla specializes in Nutritional Psychology and Psychedelic Assisted Therapy.

Ashlee Hollinger
​Licensed Counselling Therapist | Art Therapist | Certified EMDR
Adults (18+)
Ashlee is a Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT) with the College of Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick (CCTNB), an Art Therapist with the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA), a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). Ashlee holds a Masters in Counselling Psychology, and a graduate diploma in Art Therapy and is certified in EMDR.

Ashlee has an integrative therapy style that's foundation is a trauma-informed approach, using elements from somatic-based trauma therapy, parts work, and creative therapies while emphasizing empathy and meeting the client where they are at. From this, Ashlee is equipped to help clients with a range of mental health concerns from anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma.

Cleo Blackwood
​Registered Social Worker | Certified Life Skills Coach
​Individuals (16+) | Racialized Bodies | Relational Therapy
Cleo is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW) and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). Cleo is a graduate of York University, where she earned a Bachelor of Social Work with a Minor in Human Rights and Equity Studies, as well as a Master of Social Work. Additionally, Cleo holds a diploma in Social Service Work and Life Skills Coach Certification from George Brown College. 

Cleo has over 13 years of experience supporting diverse populations within various capacities including counselling, mental health, crisis intervention, educational advocacy, positive youth development, immigration challenges, family reunification and intergenerational trauma.

Cleo has also held various volunteer leadership roles within her community and she is passionate about empowerment and social change that is rooted in equity, diversity and inclusion.

Samantha is a Licensed Counselling Therapist within the Province of New Brunswick (LCT), a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and trained in Brainspotting therapy and certified in DBT.

With several years’ experience in the healthcare industry, Samantha utilizes a trauma-informed cognitive behavioural, solution-focused, and dialectical behavioural therapeutic approach to assist individuals in their mental health journey.

Samantha helps individuals find a therapeutic plan, through her therapies, that will address their needs and concerns

Risha Dave

Risha is a Registered Psychotherapist of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) under clinical supervision with Christine Contant, a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), and a Certified Trauma Integration Clinician (CTIC)

Risha uses an evidence-based, integrative therapeutic approach that is trauma-focused and attachment-based. Risha has experience working with individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

Stephanie Petersen
Registered Psychotherapist-Qualifying | Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP)

Stephanie is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). She has received her Masters in Counselling Psychology and additional training in trauma-informed care.  

Stephanie works from a humanistic approach and uses a trauma-informed lens. She utilizes a collaborative approach, working with each individual to determine a treatment plan that will best suit their needs.  Stephanie is equipped to work with individuals who are living with depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, borderline personality disorder, and couples.

Su Chaw
Licensed Counselling Therapist- C | Brain Spotting Therapist, Phase 1 | Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP)

Su is a Licensed Counselling Therapist- Candidate (LCT-C) with the College of Counselling Therapist of New Brunswick (CCTNB) under clinical supervision with Andrea Sullivan, a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and she is trained in Brainspotting therapy.  Su is currently in the process of completing  her certification in Mindfulness Awareness Meditation for Instructors Training Course (MAMITC). Su has previously received her Bachelor of Science from Memorial University and completed her Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University.

Su works from a humanistic approach, blended with cognitive behavioural therapy interventions and elements of solution focused brief therapy. While Su is cognisant of trauma informed practices, her lived experience as a racialized person helps her connect and support other racialized people who are seeking support for issues related to trauma, acculturation, anxiety, depression, and other mental health barriers. 

Su has an interest in supporting clients who have a diagnosis of ADHD or think they may have ADHD. She works to provide clients with ways to manage their symptoms as well as explore routines that work.

Marianne Moore

Marianne is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and has completed her Master’s of Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.  

Marianne works from a client-centred, solution-focused approach and uses a trauma-informed lens. She has a friendly, comfortable and non-judgemental approach to how she works and strives to develop a treatment plan alongside her clients that best suits their needs. 

With a background in yoga and mobility instruction, Marianne uses an integrative approach when working with a range of mental health concerns from anxiety and stress to depression and trauma.

​Vanessa is currently completing her Master of Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, under clinical supervision with Kayla Breelove Carter and holds a Bachelor of Science (Major in Psychology) from Dalhousie University.
 
Vanessa has a background working with adults experiencing mental health and addiction barriers in the non-profit sector. Working from a client-centered approach she aims to collaborate in a non-judgemental and empathetic way to help empower her clients.

Lisa Hebert

Lisa is a counselling intern and currently completing her Master of Arts (MA) in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, under clinical supervision with Kayla Breelove Carter.

Lisa has over 20 years of experience supporting individuals in some capacity and this background has provided the opportunity to develop a person-centered, solution-focused approach using a trauma-informed lens. 
Lisa aims to create a comfortable, non-judgmental atmosphere that is conducive to working along side you to form a treatment plan that will best suit your strengths and needs.

Chandni Chaube
Practicum Graduate Student
​Chandni (pronounced chan-duh-nee) is in the process of completing her Master of Arts, Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University, under the supervision of Samantha Nickerson. Her approach is both trauma-informed and rooted in a biopsychosocial framework. She endeavours to help clients using a person-centred modality that pays respect to the unique strengths, qualities, and cultural influences that impact an individual's experience.

Chandni has experience in crisis counselling using solutions-focused interventions, as well as substance use and addictions counselling for those who use substances and those affected by the substance use of others.

Graham Hall
Practicum Graduate Student
​Graham is currently completing his M.Ed in Counselling Psychology at the University of New Brunswick, under the clinical supervision of Samantha Nickerson. Developing from a humanistic approach, Graham is working to layer in facets of cognitive behavioural therapy, existential theory, emotion-focussed therapy, and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing.

Previous to this, Graham’s professional background was broadly in business leadership and mentorship, within the software and tech industries. His intent post-practicum is to offer consultative services and counselling to organizations to better maintain employee engagement
and performance. Graham also carries a depth of personal experience and a continuing interest in understanding First Nations, Métis, and Inuit cultures, rights, and ways of knowing.

​Marcia is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, under the clinical supervision of Kayla Breelove Carter.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Major in Psychology) from St. Thomas University and a Bachelor of Education from the University of New Brunswick.

Marcia draws from her various work and life experiences to provide a client-centered approach using a trauma-informed perspective. She is focused on creating a positive therapeutic relationship based on mutual trust and respect and is dedicated to working with her clients to help them meet their goals.

Amy Demone
Practicum Graduate Student
Amy is completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University under the clinical supervision of Kayla Breelove Carter.  Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts (Double Major in Political Science and Human Rights) from Carleton University and is currently training in relational psychedelic integration therapy. She currently volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters in the Halifax area.

Amy’s trauma-sensitive approach is rooted in transpersonal, humanistic, somatic and existential modalities. Amy combines her multifaceted background to offer a safe space for other neurodivergent folx who are searching for a feeling of safety in their bodies and their life.

Greg Gibson
Practicum Graduate Student

Greg is currently completing his Master of Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, and previously completed a Bachelor of Science (Major in Psychology) at Dalhousie University.
 
Greg uses a person-centered humanistic approach that draws from personal experience and volunteer work. He plans to specialize in addiction counselling post-internship using a variety of therapeutic methods including solution-focused therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
 
Greg hopes to provide a safe, warm, and healing therapeutic environment built on honesty and trust.

Laura Stephen
Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate (RCT-C) ​
Laura (she/her) is a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT). Under clinical supervision with Kayla Breelove Carter. She completed a Master’s in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University in 2022.

Laura uses an integrative approach that is informed by narrative therapy and emotion focused therapy (EFT). She has a particular interest in working with relational concerns, body image issues, gender, sexuality, and with neurodivergent folks.

Laura’s hope is to create a safe relational space in session, from which folks can tap into and explore the challenging and joyful emotions, stories, and experiences that are impacting their lives.

Samantha Davis

Samantha is a Registered Counselling Candidate (RCT-C) with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT). Under clinical supervision with Kayla Breelove Carter. She completed a Master’s in Counseling Psychology at Framingham State University in 2019 and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Massachusetts. 

Samantha’s warmth and calm demeanor are key components of her clinical treatment as she utilizes evidence-based approaches such as person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused approach. She is strength-based and culturally aware in working with clients of diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. Samantha understands that seeking therapy can be hard and will meet you where you’re at on your journey, creating a safe and empathetic environment.
