Understanding Trauma Through S.E.L.F.

Have you experienced childhood adversities or trauma?
Individuals who have lived through adversities or trauma frequently experience:
  • Loss of safety
  • Inability to manage emotions
  • Overwhelming losses
  • A challenge ability to plan for or even imagine a different future.
If you recognize yourself in these experiences, this group can be helpful.In this group we will explore:
  • What exactly is Adverse Childhood Experience;
  • The four concepts: Safety, Emotions, Loss, and Future;
  • How to think differently about our problems;
  • Organize the changes we need to make, into more manageable bundles;
  • Help you develop self-awareness for the ways in which your present problems relate to past experiences;
  • Help provide a roadmap for the process of recovery

S.E.L.F. represents the four fundamental domains of disruption that occur in a traumatized person’s life and within these four domains, any problems can be categorized. Naming and categorization are the first steps in making a problem manageable and to help move a person into a space of recovery and self compassion.
